College Parking Charge

I am currently looking through the newbies sticky since a parking charge sticker was placed on the car I own while it was parked at our local college. It appears that the permit fell onto the seat when the car door was closed this morning. The company involved is Business Watch Guarding ltd who are apparently based in Telford and must be members of the BPA as they say the appeal would go through POPLA.
Can someone advise me as to whether it would be worth mentioning the possible signage issues since the driver already had a permit and was aware of the parking restrictions?
Also since the driver attends the college and will be complaining locally as well through the tutor should the drivers name be passed on to the parking company?

Never heard of them but yep, a BPA member so easy to pick off at POPLA! Don't over-think it, just submit the usual template appeal for BPA Members from the NEWBIES thread and maybe add a line (NOT saying who was driving):

The driver does have a permit so it is unclear why a charge was issued, see permit attached. A complaint has been lodged with the college but the driver will not be identified.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • There's no need to mention the driver's name at all.

Thank you both. I will sort out the appeal tomorrow and post it on here to check it is good to go.
  • CM , they are listed with the BPA, Business Watch Guarding Limited , web http://business-watch.co.uk/

One of the larger companies run and owned by Paul Hinkins, Robert King and Geraldine King through another company called Roman Arch Ltd. They have the occasional go at court claims (less than 10 a year) so it is best to appeal using the POPLA system. Appear to be one of the better managed operations. Have some dodgy friends though!

  • I'm not in the least bit surprised that they have dodgy friends!
The OP has more than one massive advantage here; one is that they can prove they had a permit that was valid at time of parking. The other is that (unlike me), they are acting upon this straightaway!
