Changing pencil coil and spark plugs on Citroen C1
Hi!
Took my C1 (06 plate) to a garage today, the mechanic put my car on their computer and told me I need a new pencil coil and set of spark plugs.. the pencil coil is the part that sits on top of the spark plugs and attaches to the lead when in place (only specified as different websites call the different names I.e ignition coils) so I'm happy to change this myself but the mechanic said it's 'pencil coil number 1' obviously this has stumped me as there are 3! Called our local Citroen dealer to be told I can take my car there but they won't tell me what position the pencil core number 1 slots into!
Would really much rather change these myself as it's much cheaper!!
Please advise as if I'm standing in front on the engine facing the front of my car
Please help!

No. 1 is usually the pulley end; that is the end with all the belts; opposite end to the gearbox. Hope that helps.0

If you're going to change all the plugs yourself then take them all out and see if one of the end ones looks a different colour .....for example more sooty. If so then that should be the one that needs a new coil.0

Why not just ask first garage who diagnosed the fault0

For a definitive answer I would head over to http://www.c1oc.co.uk/forum/index.php?sid=cd636b667756187683cbbfa473ed1d630

That's french cars for you; always make things difficult for the sake of it.0 -
Did you pay the first garage for looking at it? If not I doubt they'll clarify for you for the same reason the dealer wouldn't tell ya0

Have called the garage back and was told it is the left hand side as you're face onto the front of the car, he was reluctant to tell me but got there in the end! Thank you everyone!0
