  • Thanks for all the thoughts and help.

I've got my eye on a Mini Cooper S which is being sold privately quite close to me. 75 000 miles, MOT oil August and service history. Looks in good nick for an advertised price of £3,950.

Going to visit some dealers tomorrow morning before, but think I may have a winner (if no one gets in ahead of me!).

Mini Cooper - do your research, they eat gearboxes - if its had a NEW box fitted then go for it.
  • Would the turbocharger be likely to cause me problems?
  • Made the purchase - £3500, really liked how it drove and the sporty feel of it. Overall happy with the purchase, but of course, in a couple years time I will find out about clutches, gearboxes and turbos etc.

Now to find a race track ;)
