Recon Alum wheel as Tyre keeps losing air pressure
Hello Folks,
Have a old Honda Accord which is 12 years old but for the last few years I noticed and been told that one of front tyre loses pressure during winter times, that's because my alloy wheel is corroded on the inner side of the rim. Last time I had it scrapped off but they only last for few months before it goes bad again.
So my question is how much do they charge for a recon alloy wheel for one wheel. I live in London.

Get the tyre shop to paint the rubber sealant on the inside of the rim. I know several places in the midlands that will refurb the wheels. But is it worth the expense.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

You can use a can of puncture repair; that will seal it up from the inside.0

For a single wheel you're looking at around £70 or so depending on wheel size and if any welding would be needed. Mine needed welding too and price was £180 for 2 wheels inc VAT.
More recently I've just bought a new wheel from Ebay as it was cheaper.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
It is around £40 a wheel to knock the tyre off, strip the old paint and corrosion and then powder coat it and replace & balance the tyre (without any form of etch primer, so the "paint" bubbles up and starts flaking off within about 2 years.)
I've never had any success with squirt through the valve hole sealers when the leak is due to corrosion of the rim.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I've used the sealant on my old Yaris. It does seem to work in that the tyres only need topping up every couple of months which I can live with. I've got it in 3 wheels. Paid about £10 a can from ebay. Tried the cheapo £3 sealants which don't work so well. Can't see the sense in alloy wheels though.0

Had the same on a Vauxhall, rubbed the inner wheel surface down and re painted which cured the problem0
