Zafira EGR Valve ?
Looking for advice please people....
I have a 2011 Zafira, 1.7 diesel.
Few issues recently where after sitting in traffic or from cold sometimes the rev's fall to under 1000 and there is no power at all, even putting the accelerator to the floor makes no difference to the revs/engine. You have to keep switching engine off then on until the engine appears to fire up correctly. Does not happen often but the time it did happen in the entrance to the Blackwall tunnel in rush hour has put me off using it for work !!!!
a friend has plugged it into his computer and it comes up with an error code that relates to the EGR valve.
The friend that plugged it in is also a mechanic and does private work and it seems i have 3 options......
Clean the EGR valve
Blank the EGR valve off
Replace EGR valve
Now obviously cleaning it would be the cheapest option but chances of this being successful ?
Blanking it off also fairly cheap but long term negative/positive effects ?
Replacing expensive.
Views please, I am clueless other than the basic car checks and would appreciate the knowledge people have on here for the best course of action, thanks in advance

Blank it, but you will need to clean out the EGR and all the pipework first. Its a messy job, but worthwhile.
Search on youtube for cleaning EGR and one of the videos is a 1.7 Astra. This shows why cleaning it first is important.0 -

No mention of the EGR valve , only the DPF.0 -
I stripped and cleaned the EGR on my Vectra and it made no difference, it appears the build up had caused the egr solenoid or motor to go faulty so blanking before replacing was a waste of time I had to replace it.
not so bad as ebay provided a new generic one for £400
