Microsoft Word formatting problems

My OH has just typed a paper for her course at work.
I usually print it out for her.
When I look at the document everything looks ok. :j
When I look at the print preview, the formatting has changed and the words have been bunched up into a narrow column.
Can't seem to find out what has happened.
Can anyone help me please.

Try setting the "view" menu to "print Layout" to see what's wrong, rulers set smaller, split into columns, bunched into a textbox? using an old template?0

Sorted it out now thanks.
The margins on the print layout were in the wrong place.
