Hi, really needing some advice regarding a few parking tickets received at a university car park from TPS. There are signs that ask you to pay, however the machines only accept coins, and the university has a cash machine but it only dispenses notes. Tickets have been bought and displayed in the windscreen tens of times, however on some days the driver has been late in getting up for lectures and therefore been fined very early in a morning, or not had the correct amount of coins needed and stupidly risked it for an hour or two. I have now received parking tickets, final demands and letters from the solicitors Wright Hassall as I am the car owner. Obviously not wanting anybody to be taken to court and very scared of the outcome as at first the information we read was to ignore everything, but in the last few days have read that that changed in late 2012. PLEAASEEEE help me out with the best line of action from now on!!!??

its past the appeal stage I would think (usually 28 days from when the NTK arrives) - so apart from getting a landholder cancellation for each and every one , not a lot you can do
if you do not pay , you risk a court case, especially if there are several as they may think its worth it (I am assuming you are in england or wales here , not the other 2 places)
we do not recommend paying , but there is no HARRY POTTER solution to make them disappear
its pay up or risk court , they have 6 years to try court, your choice
ie:- you are asking for help, but nobody can help you
however , if you ask for advice , that is what you will get, like my advice , you get the facts , then you decide what to do , based on the facts
ps:- they are not "fines" , no private parking company can "fine" you
they are parking charge notices, which are actually INVOICES

How many PCNs (you say a 'few' - 3?) and what stage are the latest letters at, are they just debt collection / solicitor letters asking for money or are you getting a real Letter Before Claim?
RedX is spot on - the easiest fix is to get the tickets cancelled by the person who instructed TPS to monitor the car park.
Post some more information and people can help.0 -
PLEAASEEEE help me out with the best line of action from now on!!!??Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Read other threads about Wright Hassall by searching the forum.
DO NOT name the driver nor ring any of these firms. Read this too, as well as umpteen dozen WH threads:

Hi, to answer a few questions, admittedly there are 8 in total i think spread out over months, many other people have at least 3/4/5... Currently receiving 'formal letter of claim's for each ticket from Wright Hassall wanting £90 per ticket. Is it worthwhile emailing the solicitors like i have read somewhere and offering to pay a fixed sum of say £20 each for 'losses' but no more and requesting no more action be taken? I have read multiple posts about it over about 2 weeks now and just can't quite figure out what to do.0

In that case what do you suggest? Just been reading a couple of other cases and though one seemed a solid case, they lost in court which has down heartened and worried me in equal measures! Any and all advice at this point would be greatly appreciated!0

You haven't got a court claim so no concerns about that yet. If Wright Hassall are merely writing to ask for payment to ZZPS (debt collector) ignore those letters.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
