    Ooh Dear

I tell you this in the strickest of confidence. Me and other haf went to a Travellodge in Devon/Cornwall, am not saying which one, and on our way back to the room one night, rather late, we noticed the Maid's door didn't have a lock on it, so we took a pile of towels that needed to be washed and put them in the car, was great, and we never got caught.

I am not saying you should book into a hotel like this, but it was useful as we got the new towels that were nice and fluffy.....:A

We usually take these items when staying at a hotel and pass them on to a local hospice. They have them for when relatives stay over with residents so they dont need to worry about toiletries etc.
  • I always hide them in my bag when in the hotel, then they refill them everyday. I have quite a collection of miniatures now. Also take the tea and coffee sticks.
  • More often than not I don't drink the coffee that's in the rooms but as I only drink decaf I always take the sachets if they have them and then I have a stash to take to the next hotel I happen to be at incase they don't have any.
Always take the bathroom goodies aswell for my camping trips. Just took a couple of slightly larger sized hotel bottles or shower gel on holiday with me for a week and didn't need any others. They are ideal.

Have to admit to being another who puts all the toiletries plus tea/coffee into her bag in a hotel room. Wouldn't DREAM of pinching towels though - in fact I always take my own bath sheet with me for in hotels.

I checked out the travel toiletries in the supermarkets and was absolutely APPALLED at the prices of them. Nearly £1 each for mini versions of shampoo, conditioner, showergels, deodorants, toothpaste. Now I keep the empty bottles from hotels and fill them with stuff from home - just in case hotels don't supply them (or they happen to be disguised washingup liquids). When it comes to toothpaste, I hold a tube back when it's on its last legs and pack that one in my toilet bag. Then it gets left in the bathroom bin at the hotel.

I've always found that if you ask the chambermaids they can usually come up with some decaff coffee for in the rooms as well. A friendly chat usually produces extra tea/coffee/milk/biscuits - especially if you also take the trouble to make your own bed so they have less work to do.

I'm like you! I don't drink coffee, but always take the sachets so I have some fresh when people come round my house, better than a stale jar that's been open for ages!
