fixed penalty points

hi
i was issued a fixed penalty notice in 08/16 and then i paid it within 28 days. then i was issued another one elsewhere which came with option of penalty amount and choice of speed awareness course.

i attended the speed awareness course in 10/2016 and was told that everything that existed on my licence prior to that will be cleared off.

last month i received a letter from the first offence that to send them a copy of my licence which i did and they added 3 penalty points to it?!

please advise.
thanks.

You where told incorrectly when you went to the speed awareness course. The course replaces the points for that offence.

Consequences are you have less 'available' points before you lose your licence. Insurance options will likely decrease, premiums will likely increase. Youll have to check with insurer (or provider) regarding rules for getting a courtesy car. You will also have to notify your current insurance provider that youve had points and taken a speed awareness course or risk voiding your cover, as in do it now as opposed to on renewal.

Not sure why you want to contact the issuing authority? That choice is yours.

If the points were added after you renewed then check your policy wording to see when you need to inform your insurer about "new" convictions.

(Some want to be informed immediately, others only want informing prior to the next renewal)
