Debt Recovery Plus letter for unknown parking charge

I reciev d a letter this morning from DRP for an unpaid parking charge dating back to 17/04/14, I received no previous communication regarding this matter. Looking back, the car in question was a loan car from Westway Nissan as my car was in for service that day, the car park in question was Toys R Us, Botley Road, Oxford, I only had the loan car and that was the first and only time I've used that car park for more than the free 150 mins, the payment was made by Rigo. Should I be wasting my time trying to prove I paid or tell them to do one?

You can safely ignore debt collectors as explained in the Sticky thread for NEWBIES.

There is a possibility that the parking company may try small claims court as they have up to six years to do so, but the debt crawlers have no powers to do anything other than send out poor quality bog paper.
Read the NEWBIES thread in case real court papers arrive. If you move, you must inform the DVLA for driving licence and vehicle. The two departments don't talk to each other so you need to do both.
Also tell the parking company if you move, but don't do that if you don't move. If you need to contact them, do not reveal who was driving.

  • Thanks, the reason I asked was because I thought this was not quite as black and white, anyway, I've downloaded my statement for and it confirms I definitely paid for 24 hrs parking, I also confirms The car registration number and site code as correct. I've spoken to DRP and it seems that Westway Nissan gave G24 the wrong address which is why it's gone this far, I have emailed them my Ringo receipt and asked them to drop the case, Imquite prepared to go to court if they don't.

It was a loan car I had whilst mine was being serviced so they got the the initial letter asking for driver details.

OK, you seem to have enough evidence that you paid the correct amount

Whilst we say do not contact DRP, you are in contact, so don't ask them to cancel, demand they cancel.

Point is that DRP are simple debt collectors with no power and only G24 can take the keeper to court.
Right now, G24 run scared of the courts

A judge by the way would dismiss any case with the proof you have
  • the VRN ,on the ticket, you know its correct ? I have never been able to remember a one day loan car VRN ,

I contacted G24 first, they said all I need to do was email DRP the receipt, if they don't drop the case and keep hassling me I'm quite prepared to go to court. The annoying part is that My Ringo are part of G24 and this is the only way to pay at this car park.

  • DR+ work FOR G24 as collecting agents , DR+ cannot cancel something on your say so , but they should stop writing to you when TOLD to by g24 .

please please stop ringing those people ,

g24 are not known for court , http://www.bmpa.eu/companydata/G24.html save your ticket , etc etc , and place all the DR+ rubbish in a folder marked "spam"
  • the VRN ,on the ticket, you know its correct ? I have never been able to remember a one day loan car VRN ,

Yes the VRN is correct, I do t need to remember these things, I have a My Ringo account so on car parks that use My Ringo I have records of where I parked, when I parked and what vehicle. As for contacting them, why not? I am not trying to get out of paying a ticket, I shouldn't have been issued it in the first place, I would like to see their evidence as either their system was faulty or they are committing fraud so I am persuing it out of principal.

  • what I was asking , was did you enter the number of the hire/courtesy car or your own VRN ?

having a ringo account , you would have to set it up for another vehicle , as it would default to your own VRN

but if you are adament , that the vrn shown relates to PAPERWORK of the vehicle in question (not your memory) then that is ok
