3m high fence stumping contractors

Hi,
The next door neighbours ground level is 1m higher than ours and I've been given planning permission to built what is effectively a 3m fence to cover the distance and provide us with maximum privacy.
We've had a few quotes now and I can see their enthusiasm collapse as soon as they realise the reality of what I require doing. I'm yet to get a quote back.
I've be threatened with how super deep the hole must be, with how the posts will need to be a foot thick and how the slightest gust will blow it down.
The posts aren't going into open ground, they're going into a 60cm wide planter that is walled front and back.
Surely there must be some way to reinforce a standard width post? Minimise wind damage?
Thanks

do you have any photos you can share?0 -
Use concrete posts and then paint with brown massonary paint. I've seen 3.2m 125mm concrete posts but they will need to be properly dug into around 600mm-900mm for support, so not a full 2m but not too far off.0

That wont deliver 3M above ground.0

I often walk past a supermarket-owned 3m high fence. I guess its blown down in the wind pretty much at least once a year for the three or 4 years I've been walking past it. Usually the posts snap off.
Last year they have used what look like galvanised steel H shaped posts with the panels slotted in. I'm suspecting it won't break for some time now. The fencing is close-board with wooden rails.
I'm wondering if the best thing is a 1M wall with fence on the top but pictures are worth a thousand words - maybe we will see 1M high soil that we'll need to keep the panels away from for example.0 -
Do gabions stack that high?0
-
They do but you will probably lose a lot of land to get a gabion safely to that height due to the width needed to ensure stability0

Hi
If possible, build a meter high wall on your side, 2 brick deep and incorporate the fencing/concerte posts into that and buy so-called wind resistant fencncing

The only Real solution for you Pal
+ you wouldn't have a damn ugly 3m fence that will fall on your head or damage your house at one lovely day..
The builders got a point there... It can be done but it won't be practical nor cheap.0 -

But you will have some giant weeds that will become a real pain in the @rseForgotten but not gone.0
