If someone is getting ESA with SDP and also claiming carers allowance are they also entitled to the carers premium?

I don't see why not. I know there will be those coming along questioning how you can be so severely disabled that you get SDP but can act as a Carer. The simple fact is that it is possible, and from my experience many people do have to act as carers despite their own incapacities.

Yes, you can be entitled to both the SDP and a Carer's Premium when claiming ESA. If you are entitled you need to contact ESA to let them know.

However, don't forget that the person who you care for won't be entitled to a SDP if he or she is claiming a means tested benefit and otherwise may be entitled to the SDP themselves unless your ESA is (at least in part) contributory based.
