Halifax PPI claim rejected

Cut a long story short, decided to investigate if I had PPI and was surprised to find I have. With Halifax, went through the process myself, handle well and was kept updated. After several weeks had a phone call saying my claim would not be taken any further as they felt I was sold PPI correctly and claim rejected.
Felt rejected and gave up, few weeks ago received a letter from Halfax PPI claims department saying my decision is on hold until mid 2017 depending on a high court decision.
My question is, should I chase further?
On my own or with a 3rd party?
I am assuming the letter was a generic circular.
TIA

You have 6 months from rejection to go to the FOS
The High Court decision is known as Plevin and relates to commission during the sale not being disclosed and you would expect to get a refund of any fee above 50% - this only happens when you have not been miss-sold
You thus have 2 options
Refer to FOS (if inside 6 months of rejection)
Wait for Plevin to be resolved and get a small payoutSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

This will not change the decision. It means you may still get some redress, subject to the FCA final confirmation on the Plevin ruling (which we all know now but the FCA hasnt put the date on it yet - just the rules around it).My question is, should I chase further?
They have given their decision and the reasons behind their decision. If you think they are wrong, you can go to the FOS (providing it was less than 6 months ago) and give the FOS your evidence to support your reasons why you think they are wrong. On my own or with a 3rd party?
Too late to employ a CMC. Not that a CMC would have given you any other outcome. All a CMC does is send your complaint to the same address you used and its handled by the same staff under the same process.I am assuming the letter was a generic circular.
That would be an incorrect assumption. All complaints are looked at on their individual merits and circumstances. Just as you would have provided them evidence (or maybe you didnt), they look at the evidence they have on file too. They look at yours and theirs and make a decision on that basis.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Thanks for in depth reply, I will look at the FOS situation and see where that leads me0
