Epson printer - Vista Basic

BIL has bought a new Medion PC with Vista Basic.

Also bought an Epson Stylus Photo R265.

He has installed the driver, and the printer switches on and prints it's test page. When he plugs it into a USB port though, the PC doesn't detect it.
I've checked the ports with other USB devices, and it's picked up everything so far. All except this printer.

I've tried to print a doc from the PC, and it's spooling correctly to the Epson (per taskabr), but throws up a Comms error.

Anyone had same/similar problem resolved? If so, how?

If not, any best guesses as to the cause?

edit: Just got a call from BIL. He called Epson, and they knew the solution immediately.

Although the documentation states that the printer is Vista compatible, the drivers aren't included on the disk.

They need to be downloaded from the Epson site.
