My missus has sorted it from the gmail.
She's not sure what she did but it worked.
BTW the phone is a Xiaomi Mi4i using lollipop/It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -

Probably not relevant, but very old android phones (such as my gingerbread one) don't offer MTP/PTP, and instead give access to the sdcard as if it were a flash drive, and you just copy files to/from it that way. (Seems a lot less effort than trying to do stuff with MTP on my OH's newer phone.)0
