PPI from 2005, can I claim back if I don't have the policy number?

Back in 2005, I bought a sofa from DFS. At the time, I was full time employed, I had around £10,000 savings (this was for home improvements though on the house I was buying at the time) and so we got the sofa from DFS with an interest free loan that they provide, so that I could use the £10k for the house improvements instead. Anyway, there is no way in hell that I would have agreed to PPI. I had life and critical illness cover at the time, and if I had lost my job, the loan was only for £1k, so my parents would easily have been able to pay back the rest of the loan amount for me if I didn't have any of the savings left. It was a long time ago now but I don't recall (nor does my husband who was there at the time) her mentioning anything about PPI being included.

BUT, I don't have the agreement number. I have a copy (although a bit faded) of the agreement I got from in store which says the insurance was provided by Black Horse (and it's on Black Horse paper) and it has the details that PPI was included. I remember the bloody girl who sold it to us, she was the same girl who tried to get me to take insurance on a phone I bought a few years previously and when I refused, she told me I couldn't get the phone at the monthly price they had originally quoted. Anyway, I didn't get sucked in that time and there's no way I would have (knowingly) got sucked in this time.

So basically, as the agreement is well over 6 years old and I don't have the policy number, will I still be able to claim? I will try anyway but I just wondered what the chances are?
