Outlook.com In W10. Help Needed

Options
Microsoft have changed this mail (sometime in 2016 ) and I am unable to send links to web pages.
I use outlook.com as my main email account and the email link always goes there as default email address it wants to use.

I have looked at the link to Microsoft Community giving instructions on how to deactivate the Outlook.com and update to Outlook Mail. Too complex for me I'm afraid!!

There are a number of important emails, some archived, and files I need to save so can't delete this account as it warns that I will lose everything once the account is deleted.

Can anyone suggest the best way forward please?

I think you're moving from outlook.com (webmail!) to using Outlook Mail (a program or "app") but you're worried about losing mail. I would make an archive of the mail first using this freebie
    http://www.mailstore.com/en/mailstore-home-email-archiving.aspx
    Help page here
    https://help.mailstore.com/en/home/MailStore_Home_Help

What's the purpose of this? It will copy mail for 1 or more email accounts that you specify (you need to know email addresses and passwords) TO your computer. These will be held totally separate from outlook.com and Outlook Mail. Once copied to your computer you should check that you can access the important emails.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.
