Missing Funds - NO Trace

I currently bank with RBS.. (may soon change that)
The last year has shown me some really poor banking practices including my bank manager signing on my behalf without authority (currently with the ombudsman)
My new issue is that I am missing just over £2000 it was a $2495 transaction USA
I decided to cancel the transaction and take a smaller payment option of $995
the company didn't take the funds they voided the transaction about 40 mins after i made it and informed this that they voided it.. and funds were never taken and then went on and processed the smaller payment.
clearly the funds went from my available balance which was expected. however this was 18th January we are now 3oth January and the funds are not back AND there is no trace of them ever being there or leaving the account...
They now inform me it takes 15 days for international transactions to re -appear!! like i said to them that is poor, it would be better to have them take the money and refund much quicker! but the fact there is not a trace of this money concerns me as if it was a smaller transaction I may not have followed it and it could of just disappeared not that I have mine back yet anyway...
surely we should have better banking practices than this???:mad::(:(

Confused, has your actual balance reduced or just your available balance ?DAVEWILSON wrote: »I currently bank with RBS.. (may soon change that)

So you have a current pending transaction which is making your available balance lower than your actual balance. This will eventually be cancelled and your available balance will increase back to your current balance + any overdraft. This sounds pretty normal to me, once the claim was put in for the original payment it would sit on the account for a while, whether 15 days is normal for international I have no idea but other than that it all seems normal.
The reason you cannot find a record of it is that it doesn't really exist as the transaction wasn't completed. It was claimed then cancelled and now is in the ether. The only evidence of it is the difference between you actual and available balance. Whilst it is frustrating it was you, not the bank, that originated the transaction. I would be more concerned if the cash actually leaves your accountIt may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0
