U.K. Engines

I just googled them and cant see them anywhere.
But you will find MANY engine reconditioners who are NOT doing what you might want them to.
Depending on what you actually are needing, check out http://www.fer.co.uk
Rebuilding an engine isnt easy or cheap.

There are a lot of cowboys in this field. Check them out thoroughly. Where are they based?Je suis sabot...0

They don't seem to exist online; got a link?0

Most engine re-conditioners nowadays simply clean up engines from the scrapyard. You can do this yourself.
Unlike The Olden Days, rebuilding an engine is spectacularly expensive nowadays.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

You mean like a crankshaft grinder, cylinder borer, a skimmer etc. ? Who the hell has that apart from an engineering company?0 -

Naturally I was referring to an organisation with the right kit, so yes for an engine reconditioning company it is not a difficult job, that said, there are companies that specialise in skimming heads, regrinding crankshafts etc.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
Too many dodgy companies who change names on a yearly basis.
What car/engine do you have?
I would start with local folk on eBay breaking the same car/model/year as yours and ask to see the engine running. They will take it out and ship it to your trusted garage.0 -

Yes, but spectacularly expensive.
In The Olden Days, there used to be engine reconditioning shops in every town. They would rebore your block, regrind your crank, skim your head flat, in the little workshop at the back, and you could buy piston rings, gasket sets, bearing shells off the shelf for most British cars.
Pistons were normally ordered in.
The thing was, you could afford to buy these parts. A blueprint copy head gasket set for my Suzuki will set you back £100, and then you are supposed to change the bolts, as nowadays they use stretch bolts rather than oil the threads and torque them down.
We used to stick a set of Cords rings in a tired engine to get another 40,000 out of it on a Saturday afternoon.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
