The claims guys - almost certain no PPI claim

I'm pretty certain I've never paid PPI because of my employment circumstances and even if I thought I had, I really couldn't even start to think which loans I've had over the last 30 years let alone account numbers.

Given that I've just had a letter from "the claims guys" inviting me to let them investigate for me, is it worth just letting them go ahead?

Having read some threads about them on here, I'm tempted to get them to do something even if I'm pretty sure it'll be fruitless.

He careful, if you instruct them and then ignore them, they'll try to charge you for their "services", they'll claim that you are in breach of contract.

It's not worth your time, or the potential hassle it could cause.

OK thanks - I take it you mean if they tell me "yes you were mis-sold PPI" and then I don't want to pursue a claim? What if they confirm what I already suspect?

To be truthful, I'm puzzled as to how they can find out this information though if all they're asking for is past addresses? If I even had a sniff that I was mis-sold PPI, I'd have looked into it myself ages ago!!

They'll write to the lenders, just as you would.

Only you wouldn't charge yourself hundreds of pounds for the stamp.

How do they know who the lenders are if all they're asking for is past addresses?

They'll expect you to tell them.

Failing that, they'll just write to everyone with a standard letter.

They don't know. However, it's likely your lenders were well known financial institutions...

Your insurance details are not in the public domain. So, they have no means of knowing if you every had PPI or not.

However, your credit history is available covering the last 6 years. So, they can do a credit search to see who you borrowed off. They can then send a speculative letter to each lender.
