Email is a durable medium as it can't be altered once sent unlike a website which can be updated. If they sent the terms via email then they have themselves covered.

PayPal are unlikely to help, they will ask for all sides of the story and will side with the seller once they see the T&Cs you agreed to

If we can't cancel the voucher but can cancel the bed, I assume we end up paying £30 (or whatever it was) for absolutely nothing.

    What does that mean?

Is £30 (or whatever it was) the alleged value of the voucher?
    Or is it something else?

If you cancel the order for the bed, the seller must refund all monies paid - this includes the value of the voucher.

You really need to cancel the order now - before the bed is delivered - to avoid the cost of returning the bed.

Send an email to the bed seller stating that you wish to cancel the order and receive a full refund. Also state that if the bed is delivered then the delivery will be refused. Tell them that as the cancellation was made before delivery any costs is returning the bed to them is for them to cover.

Living social didn't sell OP a bed, they sold her a voucher to buy a bed.

The seller only has to refund in the same way they were paid, in this case by voucher, they're not obliged to give OP her money back as OP never paid them in money. So OP is then left with a Living Social voucher, which like any voucher (think giftcards etc) , is non-refundable.

I think the best OP can hope for is cancellation of the bed (no reason why this shouldn't happen) then a credit on her Living Social account for the value of the voucher. I don't believe Living Social are obliged to refund her money because they only sold her a voucher, not goods or services.

It's like buying a gift voucher from a normal retailer, using that gift voucher to buy a product, changing your mind, then getting a refund which will be back to a gift voucher, you would never get your money back.

I bought airport packing with living social. Lost my car so phoned nicely telling them what happened and they refunded the £35 back into my living social account.

    Yes,I agree with all that.

Perhaps I should've said "If you cancel the order for the bed, the seller must refund all monies paid - this includes the voucher or the value of it".
  • Progress...bed company have cancelled the order...we'll see what happens now with Living Social...
