Leaving UK in August... is it worth switching now?

Hi all,

Me and my partner are going to be leaving the UK in August 2017 to head down under.

We did the collective switch last year which ends in February and I'm wondering what the best option is given that we only have about 6 months left.

If we do nothing, we end up on the standard tariff from BG, but then we have no exit fees and I assume can just leave at the beginning of August. Many of the other lower tariffs all have exit fees and I am assuming they would apply, up to 60 quid in some circumstances, in those 6 months are we likely to save more than that by switching and not staying on the standard tariff?

We're not cutting off the supply when we leave as it is a rented flat... but yes just wondered what everyone else would do in this situation!

Thanks

http://www.iresa.co.uk/ are top of the pile at the moment (location dependent) with no exit fees. Is it worth the (potential) trouble? Coming out of winter (fingers crossed) your usage should come down - wouldn't bother my self. If you haven't done so already - sign up with

and see what BG are likely to cost.

Ir depends on whether or not you want to save any money for the next 6+ months.

My advice would be, as always, to consult a comparison site and find the best deal for you.

Don't worry about early exit fees - they don't apply if you are moving. i.e. giving up your present property

Agreed - switch now and save, but don't switch to First Utility as they charge exit fees when you move out of the property - I don't think anyone else makes this charge.

Check the ' Moving Home v Exit Fees' policy with the provider/s your thinking of moving to.

It used to be the case that moving home was a universal Get-out-of-Jail- Free card, but First Utilty broke that mould and now there may be others
