Energy Bills, Can We Be Smarter? Thursday 2nd February ITV 7:30pm
This program may give us some much needed information about smart meters.
Don't forget to set those TV recorders and come back with your comments.
Energy Bills: Can We Be Smarter? Tonight
Thursday 2nd February on ITV from 7:30pm to 8:00pm
"As cold weather drives energy bills ever higher, Tonight investigates smart meters, the 11-billion-pound scheme that is supposed to save people money. But with millions of them currently being installed in homes across the country, consumer editor Chris Choi reveals problems that could see costs for bill-payers rising further, and speaks to customers who are feeling frustrated, angry and confused."

Should be fun
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I doubt there will be anything of surprise to those of us that have not been brainwashed.0
-
On Now !
£350 per customer, paid by you !
And it seems the brainwashing has worked convincing people they are "free".
So £11bn to roll out, paid by consumers.
Consumers recoup £5bn in energy savings
But the energy companies will make £8bn out of it.
No wonder they are so keen on them.0 -
Well, what did you think? Rubbish really. They never mentioned the four big issues at all:
Opportunity for the energy companies to hit you with differential pricing during the day.
Data collection (privacy) and hacking risk.
Outdated meters currently being installed.
Danger of remote disconnection.
How difficult is it to understand that if you want to save energy you switch something off!0 -
The lack of compatibility between suppliers is the biggie and the fact it was not mentioned by anyone, including the guy trying to work out the overspend, i.e. Some homes may need a new meter every year, suggests to me ITV were told not to raise the matter.0

I beg to differ. For me the main issue is that I don't look forward to being charged extra because I want to use my washing machine on a day when the windmills aren't working.
I fail to see the benefits to the public of this. It's just another scam with a lot of vested interests being allowed to fleece the poor old consumer, being facilitated by virtue signalling MPs mostly too dumb to see through the hype.0 -
£350 over 20 years can t match the green energy tax we all pay of over £100 a year. Over 20 years the savings from the vast amounts of stolen energy, mis billing , debts which never get repaid,it will be seen as an absolute bargain. The suppliers will pass on their decreased costs in lower prices, as is happening in Northern Ireland
Pity the government let the rank amateurs, the suppliers , fit the meters. They are hopelessly slow. BG target is 5 a day, I ve just had a text from an Eon meter fitter who fits no more than three and one or two a day is normal.
The rest of Europe all used the DNO s to fit them, swarming down each street fitting all the houses in one go.no wonder its costing £12 billion, and counting. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
