Capital one transaction declined ?

I got a Capital One card about 3 weeks ago but not used it at all until yesterday (i did activate it when i got it). Credit limit was £1000 , yesterday i tried to buy something at £599 and it got declined so ended up using my current account. I've just logged in online and it says account access has be altered pleased call us. I called the number which was the fraud department and they said i would have to call back tomorrow between 9 and 4 to go over some things on the account.

If it was a normal security check i would expect the person i spoke to just clear the block, but the fact i have to call back between 9 and 4 has me baffled. Anybody else ever had this with capital one? Is it because my first purchase is more than 50% of my limit ?

  • Most cc fraud depts open office hours, it could be because you wanted to spend £600 on a "first"purchase, you really won't know till you call them tomorrow
