    This has happened to a few people there is another thread on it. Happened to me.

    I resolved it by tweeting and emailing them - they then removed the default
    Money money money.

  • i have just tweeted them and I've also emailed making a complaint, how long id it take them to remove it once you had tweeted them?

    Hi Marc, as you've explained in your PM, your situation is slightly different than mine as they have told you they didn't apply a default originally just left a gone away marker.

    Perhaps someone else on the forum can advise how to properly word a letter of complaint regarding the default?

    ICO guidelines state :

    When should a default be added to a credit record?


    “As a general guide, [a default may be recorded] when you are 3 months in arrears, and normally by the time you are 6 months in arrears.

    There are exceptions to this which may result in a default being recorded at a later stage, such as secured or long term loans e.g. mortgages, or if the product operates in a more flexible way e.g. current accounts, student loans, home credit. Etc.

    So write and complain that the account should of been defaulted in line with ICO guidelines (as above).
