Mice droppings in shed

Just found field mouse droppings in a box containing kitchen utensils and tea towels stored in the shed belongings to son when he moved from his flat. I am freaking out, some j.cloths and cleaning sponge have been shredded. Shall I get rid of the utensils and new tea towels or will it be ok to boil and disinfectant everything to be used again. Thanks

The mice were looking for somewhere warm to stay. Your items will be ok with a good wash in boiling water.

If you are old enough to have a son with a flat of his own, you have almost certainly been exposed before to items that have been in close proximity to rodents of one kind or another. Why freak out now?

I appreciate, though, that my approach to domestic wildlife might be different from the norm... I once slept on the floor in a holiday rental, because there was a family of baby mice nesting in the foam of the pillow - not because I had freaked out, but because I didn't want to disturb them! I confess, though, I did remove the snake that was in the bathroom sink in the morning!

Personally I'd just put the utensils through the dishwasher and the tea towels on a hot wash.

Just wash them. Everything can be used again.

    Unless it's been shredded.
