Ironing question

Hi all, question re ironing please ? (Only doing it as I've run out of work uniform, lol! )
Picture the scene, ironing board is set up with the place for the iron to rest on the right hand side as you stand by it. I'm ironing shirts, and the toe of the iron is going up the board ( so right to left) .When I get to the top of the shirt I turn the iron round, so toe is facing back towards the iron rest, then I swap hands and iron left handed back down towards the iron rest. I didn't notice me doing it, but a comment from someone made me think. I got hubby to iron a sleeve to see what he did, he ironed up to the top and ironed back down, still right handed and without turning the iron round.
For context, I'm quite ampidextrous, as I slammed my hand in a car door when I was a kid and couldn't use my right hand for months. I can ( and quite often do ) write left handed, do a lot more things left handed than most right handed people do so I never know if what I'm doing is because of this or whether it's common in others?
Thoughts and opinions please? Thanks.

I'm left handed but never iron as left to my wife, but I bought her one of those with a seperate water tank, highy rated down from 380 odd quid to 180, cut her iroing time in almost half.0

I don't switch hands when ironing. I'd usually do the same as your husband.0

Thank you for your replies. Anyone else? Thanks.0

I don't change hands or turn the iron. I use my left hand to tension the garment; iron in my right hand moves in a straight line to the left then I wiggle it backwards to the starting position; iron is put down and garment rotated around the board then iron picked up again. Rinse and repeat as required.
FWIW, I iron collar, then sleeves, then right front, back and left front!
Trousers are ironed front face of each leg, back face of each leg, then I hang them upside down to match the seams and flap them into place so that I can iron in the creases dead centre.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I've never thought of changing the garment round EVER! I just swap the iron round so it's facing the other way.Perhaps it's my left hand/right hand thing. Funny thing is I don't even notice me doing it until someone asks me if I'm left or right handed. I'm the same with diy, whichever hand is handy (pardon the pun! ) is the one that I use, particularly when painting.
And I iron shirts in exactly the same way.
Anyone else that's ampidextrous out there? X0 -
I just make sure I take the phone off the hook while ironing.0

I generally don't change hands but when I do a long sleeved shirt I do swap to my left hand to get the point of the iron into the cuff. It has never entered my head to move the shirt round the other way, I just swap hands.
I'm right handed btw.
Oh just thought, it's only for the one sleeve too as obviously the other sleeve goes the other way.
I do the body of the shirt on the end of the ironing board, flipping it round as you go, with right hand.0
