Payment not taken for car insurance - can I drive?

Hi guys,

I insured my car about three weeks ago, paying the whole year in advance. I then found out I needed to bring the cover forward by one day, so I called the insurer and they cancelled and re-issued the policy.

The problem is that when they cancelled the first one they refunded the money - but I checked my credit card this morning and discovered they haven't re-taken payment for the new policy, so in effect I'm insured without paying for it.

I have all my coverage documents, policy schedule, etc, and the car shows as Insured on the MID. I will call them to let them know on Monday, but I need to drive today - my question is, would they honour a claim if I were to crash? I have gone over the t and C's and there is nothing mentioned anywhere about non payment invalidating the cover.

Thanks in advance!

If this is exactly as you say, then this is down to their poor admin and not your problem.

Phone them and ask if your insured and they didnt just cancel the policy and not setup a new one.

I wouldnt drive until they confirmed cover. Do you have emails showing a new policy setup?
