What's wrong with my kitchen under cabinet lightening?

Hi, I have the linked strips under cabinet lighting in my kitchen.
I changed them a few years ago to the Lidl ones as the Lidl ones are lovely.
One of them (the one nearest the kettle - I'd always had problems with that one under the old link lighting) has started to act up.
When I switch it on, it comes on for a second & then goes off & stays off.
Do they have "starters" like the old style tube lighting, could it be that?
I guess it's not a blown tube as it wouldn't come on at all, or would it?
They are cheap enough to replace, I just wondered should I buy a tube or a new unit?

Is it a 590mm 18w florescent tube?
Sounds like it needs replacing (the glass cover slides out)
Is the tube something like this?
Had the same symptoms, another tube fixed it.I guess it's not a blown tube as it wouldn't come on at all, or would it?
If you examine the tube, it's probably gone dark at each end.0 -

Yes, it's a tube like that.
I didn't think it was the tube because it came on - for a second.
The Lidl ones are not as easy to change as the old ones, they are in a tiltable unit - if it's the bulb I'd better get looking.0 -
Tiltable unit, that's the one, tilt it so you can see the edge of the glass and slide it out carefully using your fingers on the glass and your thumbs pressing against the back of the tilty bit (or that's how it did it)

Try changing the tube, they are not expensive, but I suspect it will be the starter."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

There's no starter, just a psb.
Try changing the tubes between the two units, that way you'd know whether it was tubes or 'starter'.0 -

Some posters had referred to a 'starter', So I went with the flow. I'm sure you're not really confused . .
