I've tried searching but I couldn't find what I needed, so could any of you OS peeps help at all?
I am jumping on the whole30/paleo craze and have just bought a pressure king pro, so like an instant pot but cheaper, or basically an electric pressure cooker/ slow cooker / soup maker / steamer etc all in one.
A lot of the recipes I've found are in American or have lots of ingredients I can't seem to find. So I thought is there an OS thread already for pressure cooker, steamer and soup maker recipes already? Or can anyone recommend anything they have made that's tried and tested. I just don't want to leap into to trying to make something then it comes out as mush over and over and get disheartened.
I have a slow cooker already but things never came out quite as well as I thought they should so I'm hoping this might be better.

I recently bought the Aldi multi cooker which has good reviews. I too am struggling with recipes to use. There wasn't any included with the cooker, which did surprise me. It is an Ambiano electric multi cooker. When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!0

In the last 2 weeks I have made these:
Chicken Adobo
Cuban Pork
Honey & Sesame Chicken
I have also made a carrot & potato soup, started off 5 large potatoes for baking, a chilli, and a sausage caserole.0 -
Is there any particular reason why the American recipes aren't working for you?
If it's because of measurements, you could buy a cup measurement set. I got a set a few years ago from Morrisons that does 1 cup, 1/2 a cup, 1/3 a cup and 1/4 a cup.
Edited to say that you could also look on Pinterest for recipe ideas0 -
See recipes as methods and timings.... then swap out the ingredients for something vaguely similar. eg if it's a recipe for "meat that comes out with a gravy", then the settings/timings are correct for any "meat that comes out with gravy" and so start with what you're used to ... see beyond their posh dish names and look at what it's actually doing... all you really want is timings so that meat is cooked and veggies are cooked ... and not under/over-cooked. You should be able to work that out from the scant destructions they provide.
Americans are a funny lot, with their odd ingredients0 -
I have an Instant Pot. As a rule of thumb I half the conventional cooking time for casseroles etc. I've even made pasta, in it's own sauce, in it (shh! don't tell the Italians!)
After a bit of experimentation it becomes second nature to guess approximate timings. My favourite use for it is cooking beans, from dried, without soaking.
Have you had a look through the Pressure Cooker Recipes thread?0 -
Hi gang, I am new to the instant pot and eagerly awaiting mine anyday now. I am part of a few Instant pot groups on Facebook, but they are quite slow especially being as I am vegan and people don' t post as often. Also, none of them are strictly.U.K. based.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £40.03/150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. A previous old styler known as memory girl now blogs as mortgage free in three, recently she posted her recipe for Beefless Stew which she cooked in her Instant Pot (see the comments for her thoughts on it) Recipe here
On Amazon there seem to be a few books, some poorly reviewed, but you can look inside this one and using the "surprise me" button can read a few recipes, might help. HereThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Sorry didn't realise I had posted twice above, guess my connection/tablet threw a wobble!
MY IP arrived today :T, but I have no time to play due to work and other duties. Maybe Friday or Sunday
I am going to find out if you can make jam and chutneys in it, that would be excellent and save so much wasteGC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £40.03/150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month.
