Hi,

Hoping someone can help / offer advice.

I have a 2010 1.2 Clio, I now can't get 1st or 2nd gear when the engine is running, it'll go into 1st and 2nd if the engine is off.

Only had the car 6-7 weeks. 😔

    I'm guessing it's a clutch issue

Second vote for clutch not fully releasing. If you have a branch of a1 clutches near you they come highly recommended. When my wife's clutch went they came and collected her from the road side and she was back him with a new clutch in under 2 hours.

    Thank you for the replies.

I'm guessing a new clutch will be fairly expensive?
Feeling a bit down about it as like I said we've only had the car 6 weeks. 😔

Could also be the gear selector needs adjustment. If you Google 'Clio gear problem' there are a few threads with pics on this issue.
I would rule this out before committing to having the clutch changed.

    Ok.
I've looked inside the engine (my knowledge is pretty much non-existent) I can see the parts that move when changing gear, above that is what looks like a cable? But its only attached at one end....it's just there, not sure what it's for.

You'd get much better help if you could upload a picture of what you are referring to.
