small patio

cost of a small patio
We have an area on the back of our house which we were going to make into a small utility room extension but the cost of this is now going to be too much. We want to pave over the area which is 2M by 3M I think it was going to be about 25-30 slabs. How much should slabs cost and what would it cost to get someone to lay the patio if i source and supply the slabs?

  • Are you handy with DIY? For an area that small I'd be seriously tempted to try it myself.

Slabs can cost whatever you want to spend - there's a huge range.

I am not that handy at DIY. I am happy to prep and clear the area and get all the slabs etc and I do know that the partner of someone I work with is a bricklayer and she says he does patios sometimes too. I must pluck up the courage to ask I just wondered how much it may cost and how long is reasonable to do it in. A day half a day? £200 or less than that?

Put that £200 aside to pay for the skip. Then add in sub base material, mortar, cement mixer, and maybe a day and a half labour as you suggest.

Aren't you going to use any edging stones? Are they just concrete council slabs?

    that site was interesting thanks.

I am going to need a small skip for waste or something?
  • Depends what you have to get rid of.

Bung it in the back of the car and take it to the tip? (bag it and use a plastic sheet if it's mucky)

Bit at a time in the household waste bin?

Sling it in next doors garden . . . ? :rotfl:

What will there be to get rid of?

Where is the best place to buy patio slabs?
  • For a small project like this, I would look at what some of the local sheds have on offer.
