Hi!
I have a video camera and am looking for recommendations for software to import the footage, do some simple editing (e.g trim, add a music track etc), make a useable DVD menu with chapters and then burn to DVD.
Doesn't have to be complicated - if anything the simpler the better!
Am using windows 10.
Thanks!

Try windows Movie Maker, bundled within Microsoft Essentials.

Look at Handbrake for a freebie. https://handbrake.fr/0 -

Windows Essentials 2012 suite reached end of support on January 10, 2017.
It is no longer available for download.
That said, there does still seem to be a link to the offline installer on other pages on the web, although I'm not sure if it will still work.0 -
I never use anything from NCH after they put adware on my system and would not uninstall all the mess they left on my system. Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. The thing about video editing is that once you get into it you want those extra features, I use TechSmith Camtasia but is just basic for what I need.
I suggest you figure out your own needs by reading reviews of video editing software.

Still haven't properly solved this ...
software doesn't have to be free - don't mind paying but needs to be an all-in-one which includes the capturing, editing, dvd menu creation and importantly the burning to dvds.
I did download the videopad option but it just kept crashing for me!0 -
When you say capture the video, what is the source of the video?
Is it not a digital camera you can just copy the video files across?
Have you tried the movie maker included with older versions of windows and maybe downloadable in windows 10? Not tried downloading it to windows 10 myself but its included in windows 7.
Nero? This used to come with most DVD writers.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The source of the video is video camera footage.
Tried movie maker but doesn't work on my version of windows 10 and no microsoft doesn't support it now either.0
