It's funny how quickly cars get clamped. Is there a vast army of official clampers patrolling every one of Britain's streets daily?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Could have been picked up by the ANPR on a passing police car. Could have then sent somebody out.

The route I cycle to work on is very busy. I take a left turn and go down a very quiet road that runs parralel to the main road behind a row of terraced houses. The surface is awful. Full of potholes and random bits of tarmac. Looks life an unadopted road. There are always cars clamped down there. I feel sorry for them because I have a large detached house with a large drive. They have nowhere to put the cars to SORN them. Seems like a tax on the poor.

An optional tax on the poor, why not sell it?

Could have been a not so friendly neighbour who saw their opportunity.
  • I know it probably seems a bit too good to be true, but it's the honest truth, it was moved off the drive for a matter of hours.

My guess is it was a neighbour who didn't like it, or seen it as an eye sore took an opportunity.

Mmm. Because they absolutely have to own multiple cars which aren't road-legal, don't they?

It would have been much cheaper to just tax it, unlucky. I'd go for the tip off option too, probably a neighbour who doesn't approve.
Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.

Always assuming it's MOTd and insured.

'course, if it isn't, then that's going to make parking it on the road even more expensive than just the VED penalties...

I think it may depend on where you are.

IME certain parts of my town are much more heavily and regularly targeted by VOSA clampers than others - I suppose their database tells them where the greatest numbers of registered but untaxed cars are and guides their actions.

They are also areas with little off-road parking and yes, I would concur that they are very often at the poorer end of things.
