Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.

I am TOPM but have now discovered that the 1st April is a Saturday so my payment won't go until Monday. Not that it will make an ounce of difference, its just for my own satisfaction that I have officially started my journey.

I've never been this eager to pay my bills I can tell you :rotfl:

As for the mobile deal I still had to pay £35 to finish my contract, that's the bill for the month and a small amount for something else.
But from now on I will be making a huge saving :T

Well I've bitten the bullet and signed up to YNAB  Numbers are definitely not my strong point. I think I have the idea of how it works :undecided well I'm working on it.

I watched quite a few lessons on you tube and it helped as I was watching them I kept popping back to my budget and doing what I had just learned :D

I will keep at it and hopefully it will click and fall into place.

Hi all weekend approaches yet again, wow nearly another week over.

Have been playing around with YNAB and have asked other users on here some questions. You tube has been very helpful too.

DH gets paid tomorrow so I will be putting my figures into my budget and see how I get on this week with it. I don't get paid for another 2 weeks so I will wait for that and then add this to my budget also.

It will take some getting used to but I'm sure if I stick with it, it will become a way of life. Well that's the plan anyway :D

1st SC payment going on Monday I think as the 1st is on Saturday but I'm pretty sure DDs are not taken at the weekend. Getting impatient again :o I will have to hold on to the money every month like this as I get paid in the middle. Shame I never held onto money like this in the past I wouldn't be in the mess I'm in :rotfl:

I did however end up with £30 still left in the bank tonight. Ive moved it out and shared it between the savings accounts. Starting tomorrow with a clean slate with DHs wages ready to budget for the new week.

Anyway I hope everyone is well and I'm off to check out some more YNAB tips.

    :T weekend yaaayyyyyy :T

    New week, new budget.
Still keeping at YNAB. I think it's starting to click, slowly :o

I sat with my mobile banking app open and added the correct account balances to my budget. I set out my budget in a way that I think will help me.
    • Emergency fund account as uncleared funds
    • Yearly savings account as uncleared funds. I have set up a SO every Friday to this one and let it build up. It will pay the car tax, insurance etc.
    • Basic bank account is what I have budgeted with
    • Top up debit card is also budgeting money

DHs wages have been split into savings and budget. I have grocery money and paid my weekly things like gas, electric, TV licence, groceries. I have added some to the fun money and hope that this will build over time. It's there if we want to eat out or something at the weekend. Nothing too expensive yet :p

I have not put any info yet about my wages I will add this and budget it when I know it's in the bank and it's real money.

My budgeting money on YNAB now says zero balance as I have allocated all available funds to the correct places and paid what I've needed to today. I now now exactly how much We have left to spend this week.

My SC payment has been moved back into our main account ready for the 1st payment. Probably not tomorrow as it's the weekend. Maybe Monday but it's there waiting :T
I said to DH about a 100 times not to draw anymore money from the bank as the SC payment is in there he will check it and think

I have found some stuff to sell on eBay but never seem to get round to doing it. Must try harder with this one. Every little helps.

Had an email from SC today that went on about one of our creditors wanting up to date info on our budget etc. Considering we haven't even paid anything yet. SC says just carry on as we are so I refuse to worry about it.
So a pretty positive start for us so far.

  • Sounds like you've got it all under control. And like you're getting there with YNAB. It will all settle in and make perfect sense by the time you've got through a month or two with it.

    Yayyyyyy. eBay sales listed (phew)

The thought of making a little extra money is what spurred me on to get to it :D

Was up nice and early and have washing hanging on the line blowing nicely, dog walked, vacuuming done and just the bathroom to tackle, will wait for DH to get home from work and have his bath as he goes straight in there and the bathroom looks like we have been burgled by the time he's finished.

Hoping to buy some cheap plants today to start my garden pots off. The sun is shining today and my garden is looking a little :(. Need to brighten it up a little and it's also a chance for me to get out in the fresh air. Also the fact that both neighbours are doing theirs and and are looking quite nice also makes me want to do mine :p

I'm not too good with gardening and plants etc. I'm one of those that plant and hope
It makes me feel better though when I look at some colour in the garden.

Need to do grocery shop too. Thinking about going to the local butcher, there is a nice one that I drive past regularly and often think about going in there. Will go today and hopefully be able to buy some nice meats that I can freeze and batch cook with.

SC DD didn't leave my bank but I sort of knew that anyway. Monday it is then. They emailed me to tell me that one of our monthly payments has gone down by 1p and one has gone up by 1p :rotfl:

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend

:T been to the butchers and got lots of meals, steak, mince ,bacon, beef, chops home made sausages. Very reasonable too. I will be able to make lots of meals just from this lot. I already have any other ingredients to add. I will be batch cooking and freezing meals to make life a little easier :)

Didn't really need too much else so popped into the co-op and bought bread, milk, washing liquid, and a couple of other bits and still stayed within budget :j

Didn't manage to get any potting plants though the shop I needed for these was a short drive must the traffic was

May go later or first thing in the morning. Have ironing to do now all the washing is dry :(
