  • I have a set of the original AMC pans that we bought going on 35 years ago. They weren't cheap by any means but they are still going strong and looking almost as good as new. Money well spent in my opinion.

    We bought a set of JL stainless pans 10 years ago when we refitted our kitchen, they still look like new and are fabulous to use. I also have some old Le Creusets and a Sainsbugs skillet that are used several times every week.

    I have a set if Meyer saucepans, they are ten years old and still as good as new.

    I found that one of the sizes I was always using and have added a Joseph pan to the collection. Also excellent quality

    Another vote for Meyer - I've had mine for more than 20 years now. Expensive at the time (about £100 in a sale for set of 3). Just wish I could have got a frying pan at the same time!

    Another vote for Lodge skillet. It'll outlast you :) I love cooking in mine. You can shove it in the oven and things seem to taste better from it, plus I think everything looks prettier (in a rustic way) when served in it.

    I never bother with non-stick. We don't eat any milk, dairy or eggs - or any packaged/processed food - so I figure we can manage adding a wee bit of oil to our cooking.
  • Oooh if you're on Gas, then I'd really echo some of the other posters and invest in a bit of le creuset cast iron. It's expensive up front, but you can get bargains on eBay or even tkmaxx. Lasts more than a lifetime, if you look after it.
