Ooh, a five mile coastal walk sounds lovely enthusiasticsaver - hopefully you are up to it - it really helps blow away that urgh from being ill, if you can breathe. Your eating looks good.
I hope you do join us Karmacat - it makes me accountable and I am starting to feel better (still to weigh in this morning) - I must be honest, I had a little slip (well two) yesterday. I found lemon cakes left from last Saturday in a tin and had 3 petits fours sized mini-cakes, and then looked into the box of chocolates to see what was left and eat the orange cream and coffee cream - I did throw the remaining strawberry cream though.
I also did half a box of paperwork (dull) and managed to put the cardboard in to a half empty recycling bin belonging to the Village Hall - ours was full already. so I am starting but it is so dull and boring.
I ended up consuming:- 2 black coffees
- lunch was soup with a drizzle of cream and a tiny bit of cheese crumbled in, and yogurt with a bit of honey
- naughty afternoon as detailed
- large cup of tea
- snacked on 2 flat peaches and a further round peach in the evening
- supper was steak and salad plus 5 tiny new potatoes (they needed cooking
)

We all have the odd slip up SL so I wouldn't worry about the cakes etc. Just move on. I had a chocolate Bourbon biscuit yesterday with the grandchildren when they came to visit too. On the plus side I am 2 lb lighter from when I last weighed before my holiday.
Yesterday I had toast with marmalade but no butter for breakfast
Low fat cheddar with tomatoes and caramelised red onion chutney sandwich
Bacon and chicken risotto using the last of the chicken up
Snacked on oranges and pears.
I am feeling much better thanks and DH is doing the walk with me so will be slower than usual and will do a cafe stop half way round at Talland bay and a pub lunch at Polperro so not good. Boat or bus back to Looe from there. Lovely walk if anyone ever in area. 5 miles each way or as we will do bus it back. Sun is out too

That is good that you are going. Lovely area - I know the North Coast better as we used to have a week based in Porthtowan (about 17m west of Newquay) as a girl every May half term (big group of parents' friends). Great fun. Just checked my new go-to weather app (Ventusky.com) - looking good today.
I am off to the Chelmsford area to meet a friend today - bit of a long-time-no-see so looking forward to a catch-up. I won't plan my eating as we are starting at hers and I will play it by ear but I might be cheeky and take the last of the soup I have been having - just two bowls I think. It will definitely involve tea and cake!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I can tell you right now my morning routine is always the same. Cup of tea, porridge, then the single strong coffee I have. Porridge is oats, linseed and pumpkin seed, turmeric, cinnamon, peanut butter and honey. Probably too much honey, I'll try to cut down on that a little bit. Small teaspoon of fat-free dried milk in the coffee.
My downfall - mostly because it upsets my stomach, and sometimes causes pain - is the pesto/feta cheese combo I eat once a day. Too much fatI also eat too much carbs, which also upsets my stomach.
So here's my first pledge: I bought some sweet potato last week, which I still haven't used, so I'm going to prepare some for lunch (just nuke it in the microwave, nothing fancy) - I just haven't made it part of my system yet.I also did half a box of paperwork (dull) and managed to put the cardboard in to a half empty recycling bin belonging to the Village Hall - ours was full already. so I am starting but it is so dull and boring.Had my coffee and weighed myself. 0.4lb down - that is the pay-back! Total is 4lb so farMy weight is actually at the border between normal/ overweight, but the real issue is bloating/ pain/ gastric upsets. And general lack of muscle tone.

Sorry for the essay, SL!2023: the year I get to buy a car1 -
Thanks Karmacat, your eating sounds healthy to me. I suppose it is just a question of finding and reducing the things that adversely affect you. I like sweet potato roasted, with salt and pepper, and also mashed with carrot and a little butter (and a few chilli-flakes or it is too sweet with no counterpoint). Pesto might be good stirred through it
Yesterday's eating was driven by my friend. We went to a cafe and had bacon, brie and cranberry quichewith salad and coleslaw:) and pots of tea - then laughed and chatted in the garden for several hours before going out again to an Indian (Keralan) restaurant where I drank water and eat as well as I could. Had Dosa (rice flour and black chick pea gram pancakes but I avoided rice. She has been ill and it was more important for her to have a fun outing than for me to lose another pound yesterday. We will meet up more frequently now we have met up and laughed.
My scales showed a gain of 0.6lb this morning so am fasting until 2pm - just coffee and water and then we will both have soup.
We will have some pickings from the garden this evening - I have pulled 3 beetroot and some radishes and will clip some spinach and rocket for supper with warm-boiled eggs, I think. Might have a slice of that steak each and some cold new potatoes (if potatoes are kept cold and then eaten it changes the structure of the carbohydrate and makes it better if you are following a low carb diet. I might roast a couple of peaches to have with some Greek-Style yogurt too.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Your eating sounds healthy to me Karma
So glad you had a lovely day yesterday SL with your friend. Lovely to go out on a sunny day and it was absolutely glorious yesterday. Interesting about potatoes eaten cold. I did not realise they were lower in carbs that way. I still prefer new potatoes hot though but have educated my palate to do without butter on them, courtesy of the fat is bad era a few years ago. Now I think sugar is the new evil.
Yesterday I was not good at all but we had a thoroughly lovely day on the coastal path and I easily managed the 5-7 miles we walked so I think I will be ok to do the south devon one on Tuesday. Still coughing though but not as much.
Yesterdays eats were:
Breakfast was Weetabix and fruit.
Midmorning cake and coffee overlooking Talland Bay
Brie, bacon and cranberry sandwich although I left half the bread as it makes me bloated and a cider in a pub in Polperro for lunch
Ice cream for mid afternoon tea in Looe
DH cooked fish and chips and peas for tea last night but I could only manage half.
I don't weigh myself every day so hopefully I will undo the bad stuff over the coming week.
Our local town has a regatta this weekend so I have been down there this morning with my DD2 and grandchildren but did not succumb to food although it all looks lovely. Just a coffee in my favourite bistro caf! overlooking the quay watching the Cornish dancers. BBQ this afternoon over at my son in laws parents.
Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine today. Your dinner sounds lovely and healthy SL and homegrown veg too.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I'm getting jealous of all this bacon brie and cranberry :rotfl: how wonderful! My breakfast is really healthy, but later meals are a bit monotonous, even though healthy, I have large portions of a few things, rather than a good variety. It's good enough, but to really vanquish the fatigue, it should be better. And it will be now
I love the sound of a regattathe town nearest to me on the coast has a marina, but its built so that you can't see the yachts and boats from the landward side, unbelievably. Never seen one like it.

The regatta was lovely Karma. Day 1 today so more races tomorrow including the open water swim. They have a stage for bands to play, lots of stuff for the kids to do and all along the quayside road there are stalls selling food etc and on the river there are canoes, gigs, kayaks, dinghys, yachts etc etc. In the morning there is a town parade with all the local organisations and schools being represented. Very festive and community orientated. Highlight tomorrow is the cardboard box boat race. They all sink by the end but the winners are those which stay afloat longest. Hope the rain holds off for that. :rotfl::rotfl:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. That sounds brilliant. Our neighbouring village has a pram race, similar to the cardboard box one, and one of my neighbour trained for five months to take part (I probably ought to know if he won really).
We spent most of the day gardening yesterday and DH cut the grass (mat green weed patch!) - so it looks so much better.
Our meals were as per the plan but in my case I had a glass of wine and some little cheesy mini straws that I bought for the tea I did last weekend and the less said about how many I eat, probably the better. They started as croutons in the soup but I basically polished off about ten with my glass of wine.
DH has been eating the HM hummus I made - personally I am not keen but he is. He also eat the corn chips that he had started when left to his own devices on Friday. Ho hum, I suppose it has removed temptation as we are now a snack-free house!.
Yet to weigh myself (might skip today and weigh in tomorrow) - we are going out with friends from a neighbouring town today for a late lunch. It will be good to catch up, we have not seen one since my retirement do and the other since Christmas. A pub lunch at least lets me avoid pudding.
I must get DH to change his phone contract. He is on a sim only and it is about £20 for a tiny data package and over a year old!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
