OH my - gutted by all you lost from the freezer disaster!
I've not touched the laundry today even though there is a full load waitingto be processed!
We took advantage of the warmth and gave the garden a good tidy up instead, including a much overdue mow & serious pruning. Looks like we've lost one of our shrubs to the hard winter, but all the 100 year old rambling roses are intact complete with wicked thorns - LOL. Have harvested some more overwintered parsnips, tbh only fit for soup or mash but still, it's at least a meal's worth there. If I was enterprising enough, would have collected dandelion flowers and made fritters, but OH scoffed at the thought and they are now in the garden waste collection bin along with the grass clippings!

There are enough dandelions in my garden that if I'd started, I could have made a proper go at it!

If hes going to act like a child SL then its perfectly reasonable to give him a serious clip round the head, what a waste through his thoughtlessness.
Welcome home, I hope you had a lovely trip.

I have asked DH to ask DS about it - he did say he might have some friends over and this happened after a similar holiday a few (maybe ten) years ago.
In the meantime, I have decided to risk the Seville oranges I found after the main binning, in a narrow-topped jar, so I had to wait for them to defrost before I could get them out. I have cut them up and pressure cooked them and once my bread has proved I will set up my jelly strainer to separate out the liquied from the pulp. My thinking is that pressure cooking will have sorted out any nasty bacteria or pathogens.
Changing the subject, I bought a few strawberries (12 for £15) to top up those that are already in residence, and I did a mahoosive shop (for us) - with £62.32 stores and £66.04 for fresh stuff. I froze four packs of fish and seafood and four packs of meat. We have asparagus I will cut from our garden today - it is a favourite light supper dish with two poached eggs and maybe some new potatoes.
The best news is that DH's pension now exceeds the minimum to qualify for the loyalty payment from Coop Bank. Only £800 for this one but it's our running costs account, with just enough DD to satisfy the conditions. My pension is bigger, and now more than meets our bills. If we were to take on an additional £100k mortgage, I know we could just about manage it. Right. I need to check out PB wins and then get the sourdough loaf 2nd proving before straining the oranges and then hopefully it will have warmed up as I want to inspect bees!

I've just had a lovely chunky slice of home baked sourdough with scrambled eggs. I often wonder as I'm feeding the jar, if it is really truly worth the faff, yet as soon as I bite into a slice of that yummy crusty toast, I think 'Yes, it so definitely is!'
I think I would have risked the sevilles too.

My (3) loaves are in their tins and still proving. The oranges are straining and I have made a batch of courgette soup which really needs whizzing in the liquidiser. Given our supper plans I foresee a 3pm lunch at this rate!
Is it just me? Two weeks away, two weeks to catch up - I am 151 posts behind on some threads (@foxgloves, I am talking to you here!) and there is such wisdom in the content I really don't want to skim-read, but I may have to!
Oh yes, I forgot to mention… we are very grateful that the eye clinic phoned yesterday and DH is scheduled to have his fifth procedure on Friday at 1.30pm. They obviously have a note that he is retired so he has been called in to cover a cancellation (for all but the first and second, which were emergency procedures to save his sight) - I tok the call initially and asked who was calling and when she said who and from where I said "Oh good! if this is for the procedure he is awaiting, the answer is yes and we can rearrange anything to be there, but I will hand you over as I know I can't speak for him!"

Oh dear, sorry @Suffolk_lass - I can yakk, can't I, & I'm just the same in real life. I shan't be remotely offended if you ignore those 151 pages & start afresh with life at Foxgloves Manor if you are not bored of my savings pots & biscuit-robbing cat by now.

Does that mean you’re starting again at @foxgloves as I can’t keep up either (sorry!)
In your defence, it’s only due to SLs holiday that I’ve been able to stay on top of her diary 😜
I agree with regards to the starter for the bread and it being so worth while. I have a loaf in the fridge ready to go into the oven tonight and yesterday my husband said, are you faffing around making bread again, don’t you have enough to do already 😳Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay
