Recently I brought a De’Longhi HCX9124E Panel Convector Heater: picture link
It's a nice little heater but the tilt sensor is malfunctioning and after contacting De’Longhi they're getting me to send in the receipt, the plug (cut off from the cable) and the heater's safety info sticker. Once they get this they're going to send me a new one.
When I asked them what I should do with the old heater they said I should just dump it into the recycling depot.
I'min awe at this 'just chuck it away' approach because I'm thinking it must be possible to disengage the tilt sensor and it'd be okay admittedly you'd need to be careful but surely this is better that trashing the entire unit.
Does anyone know anywhere or anyone in London who might be able to do this mod?

It's probably a five minute job to do yourself.
The only problem is that you would be bypassing a safety device. You know you have done so but if somebody else used the heater and assumed that the tilt switch was still present, it might end badly.0 -
Rather than disabling safety cut out features on electrical devices
Why not source a replacement tilt switch
