Drying clothes indoors
Comments

I would never dry clothes in a room where the door is normally kept shut - I normally hang my clothes in the hallway and they dry in 24 hours in summer or 48 hours in winter but have not noticed any condensation0

Ok now I feel like I'm being lectured
All I want to know is if there is a way I can keep my window open even on first lock but if there's something I can do to vent the cold air, either stop it from coming in or vent it coming in, so it doesn't feel so cold.
I've tried multiple things, I don't need choices being made for me or being judged.
I want to be independent, is that such as bad thing, I don't want to bug my parents about things I can't solve myself because that's not being independent and their answer would be that I didn't do my own laundry (not that they don't want me to be independent, they just don't mind doing things for me) again this isn't indendence and they work just as much as me and so isn't fair that I expect them to do everything for me. Ok we would share it but still, my choice is I'd rather take that responsibility myself.
Apologies if I sound defensive but I have to say it as being judged, lectured etc is becoming a regular thing for me and it's getting frustrating.0 -
Why didn't it work?
Think about what you could change to make it work.
That's what adults do
It didn't work for many reasons
One being sometimes it was already done by the time I got home from school or would be done while I was doing homework as this always had to be done before any chore then I had specific chores
Wanted to do laundry but that wasn't what needed doing as was always done regularly by all of us.
My dad is also a parculiar person, always wants things done a Pacific way and if you don't do it the way he wants, (although he doesn't tell you) he won't let you do it, instead hell moan and whinge, he even moans and whinges about me doing my own laundry as if he's not happy he can't stuff it up.
Also I had thought of this but, I have very little time, I work 2 jobs and I study as well as doing odd jobs around to help, me doing all the laundry is another huge responsibility to take on, when I just about manage to do my own.0 -
You need air circulation to dry things.
You could look at one of those Lakeland type heated airers if you have room but you still need to let the moisture out of the room. It doesn't just vanish, it has to go somewhere.
There isn't a way to let air in without it being cold if it's cold outside.
How about opening the window for half an hour each morning before you go out? That way it should have warmed up again by the time you get home? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

My bedroom door has to be closed as I have pets, I don't particularly fancy finding accidents in my bedroom as much as they are house trained, still accidents do happen.
I do love them and this is part of the reason why I'm always in my room because if I'm downstairs they don't leave me alone, whereas upstairs they do because my door is closed.0 -
Hi, I know this topic has posted once before but not really answered my situation.
I'm a 24 year old still living at home and I do my own laundry, by choice as I love the independence it gives me. But this means I dry my clothes in my bedroom on a clothes horse, it has caused a lot of damp despite using a dehumidifier and it is affecting my health. My dad keeps telling me to keep my window open, but I feel the cold and this too makes me unwell as well as effecting my back.
My question is, is there a way I can have my window open to let moisture escape but keep the cold out?
You need a more efficient dehumidifier.0 -

I understand that and I never said or even implied I expect moisture to just vanish, again as previously mentioned my window is difficult to access regularly, so it's a case of either stays open or closed.
And before someone mentions anything about emergency access, I can get to it in case of emergency but to open and close it everyday is a mission rather then a need and I have enough missions in my life, I don't need to add.0 -
