Apple Watch Workouts - Red or Green ring for workouts?

I can't find the answer to this anywhere, and I'm not talking about the Calorie, Exercise or Stand rings.

I'm wondering about the workout app on there. I've completed a few different workouts including Indoor/Outdoor walks/runs, as well as indoor cycling. I've tested a few walks and I passed my target calorie burn and the completion ring remains red. However, last Friday I went on a walk to the shop (defeating the object of working out because I went for a big tub of ice-cream :rotfl: ) and walked back home, this was around a mile walk overall, and I got a green completion ring on the workout app.

Since then I've done a four mile outdoor walk, and worked out in the gym numerous times, but no other ring is green apart from that particular walk.

What does this mean?

When you're in the Workout app in iOS I assume you're tapping the Activity tab where all of your workouts are listed?

Some of my workouts have a pink ring whereas the most recent ones are green and I think I know why.

When you're using the app on your Watch are you tapping the Quick Start option at the top of the list?

That's an open goal target rather than choosing say, 500 calories as a target. When you choose a target that's when your ring is red/pink. Open goals are green.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

I ended up figuring this out last night actually :rotfl: But you're exactly right! I usually set myself to burn 200 calories per workout at the gym so that if I do three workouts, it equals to the move ring on the daily activity at 600 per day. When I went for that walk, I must have selected open goal without realising.

I'm normally really tech-savvy but that was one simple thing I just couldn't figure out :rotfl:
