  • LOVE the idea of the % of a roof as a unit of spending 😁

Our lives seem to be running in parallel again, I’m moving in April too (finally!) and also doing sums about work to be done. And wondering why I didn’t find somewhere that didn’t need any work done at all, though it’ll be worth it in the end 🤞

  • I’m so excited for you @astrocytic_kitten ! I have the same feelings about the work that needs to be done, but then I would have had to compromise on a lot more to get somewhere that didn’t need any work so hopefully it will be worth it all in the end 😁

Great monthly review and hurrah for a PB win! Nothing for us this month but as really rather new holders we've had more than our share for a while I think!

Something to consider to from the budget in your "start-up" fund for the new house - your initial food shop will be higher than usual as you'll be replacing a lot of stuff from scratch where either it's been used yup and not replaced because it's not worth it so close to moving, or where there was little enough in an item that it couldn't earn its space in a packing box. Also things like running the freezer down will require some restocking. I remember being horrified by the amount we spent in the supermarket on our first shop after moving in!

  • That is such a good call @EssexHebridean ! And thinking about it, buying cleaning supplies etc from scratch as well
  • Oh gosh yes, I remember thinking I only needed a handful of things when I moved in here because I’d collected almost everything while renting (each flat seemed to always be missing something different from the last one). So I just needed a mop, mop bucket, washing up bowl, drainer, etc etc… it came to £50. And this was bog standard supermarket stuff.

I don’t think I’ll need to buy anything like that for my new place but I’m sure I’m wrong 😂
