Yes - that's similar to the situation round here with the queues but more pleasant inside GC. The queues would be even shorter if it wasn't for so many people determined that the "one shopper per household" rule didn't apply to them, mind you!

    Hello again, milady!

    I can post! :D

You have a fair chunk of change to pay off before August. Do you think you can make it. I hope so, especially since you have a bit more money to hand with reduced social/commuting expenses, even if other bills have gone up.

    Things are looking good! :)

I think it is hard for people to keep up with the rules too, our local Boots has so many posters plastered to the outside with updated announcements and rules that it is quite confusing! Although saying that, we are enjoying the "one shopper per household" rule as getting a bit of a break from the other person.

I went food shopping yesterday and also picked up quite a bit of non-essential but bargain-priced chocolate. Lindt bunnies were 50p!

Hello PB! I'm glad you were able to post, it's nice to see you again :)

I'm not sure about clearing the full balance by the August deadline, even pulling out all the stops and throwing everything at it from the saved expenses I think that some of it will roll over into September. I'm also a bit hesitant to do that because I am feeling quite paranoid about the general uncertainty around the economy etc and I want to add more to our emergency fund. I will try though :)

Pray tell GC which store was it that had the bargainously reduced Easter Goodies? I may have to pay a visit...

Might just be wandering to Tesco later then - in fairness, we'll need fruit by the end of the day, so "essential shopping" box is ticked.

Chocolate is *absolutely* essential in these troubled times!

There's no harm in stockpiling any and all cash you can lay your hands on until nearer the date and see how the land lies at that point before making any sort of financial decision, milady.

How is your emergency fund right now?

That is a good plan! We’ve got 2 months worth of rent & bills saved in the EF, I’d like to have at least 3 months in there. Then I’d like to make sure I’ve got 3 months worth of the important but not fundamental expenses saved as well (thinking of things like my therapy sessions, because I’m sure if I have to use the EF I will also really need the continued support from therapy!) but I suppose that adding those expenses could happen at a slower rate alongside debt repayments.

I’m meal planning at the moment. One of the positives about lockdown is having a lot more time for cooking, and now that the local shops are almost back to normal we are able to choose what we want rather than put up with what we can get.
  • That sounds like a plan!

If you are in therapy I would personally consider it an essential bill as you must be there for a reason. However, I understand that you have to draw the line as to what is/isn't essential somewhere so perhaps you need to draw it somewhere close to there?

It always winds me up when people state that cable/satellite TV is not an essential (although a small amount of chocolate in the food budget definitely is)!
