How often to print to keep Epson injets nozzles clean?

My HP printers so far have not clogged up for me, but since I started using a new HP printer with the 302 cartridges that I've personally refilled, the damn thing won't print unless I use a new cartridge. Browsing the internet for clues hasn't helped. It seems HP have finally stopped us moneysavers in our tracks from refilling our own cartridges - I'm using Linux mint. Sorry for the interruption but I was hoping some techies on here would be able to help a not so techie out.Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. The problem isn't Epson, it'll happen with any inkjet printer. Unless printing often, an inkjet printer is a bad choice. Printing a colour page every now and then isn't enough and is wasting the ink.
My recommendation is a laser printer and unless you really need colour, a mono laser printer can be a much better investment.
I paid £120 for a Samsung Wireless Mono printer and it's been great. If I want to print photos, I'll take them to Asda on a USB stick.
True, I moved to Epson from HP because of the same problem.
The best laser printer I've ever had (I still have one and use every day) is the HP LJ4. It just keeps on printing.0 -

Well you know what its like, the actual ink costs more than the printer usually, and if at all I refuse to use the originals they are that expensive.
I actually have an old Lexmark all in one and a HP as well, but refuse to get ink for them. Lying up in the attic.
An all one for £30-£40 is not a great deal of money, part of the reason I bought the latest today at Tesco (an Epson xp 322) for £40 was that my other one had stopped working wouldn't print black (I had bought 20 cartidges on ebay) so bought this one so that I can use the ink on. Works fine so far.
Thanks to everyone for replies. If the nozzles do get blocked is there any safe way to unblock them, I ruined last Epson 322 trying, With water and a syringe through nozzes, but maybe there's a better way if anyone knows? I think there are a few kits you can buy from some websites, anyone had experience of them?0 -

It seems that when refilling HP carts you need several other working genuine ones also.
