New build - Scottish power provider

Hello,

I've just moved into a new build property and it was setup initially with Scottish power by the developer. On moving in, I sought a cheaper dual supplier contract.
The new supplier took over on Jan 9th. I have been billed by Scottish Power for 40 days and they have billed separately for gas and electric and they both seem rather high for the short time frame.
Do I have any rights or anything I can do regarding this?
Obviously I didn't choose to be with Scottish power, I was unable to negotiate a cheaper deal with them as I was changing provider and wouldn't enter into a contract with them.
Am I able to negotiate with them at all over these separate bills?
Gas is £67 for 40 days
Electric is £80 for 40 days. Seems rather a lot.

Any advice would be good.

You have to pay for the energy you used according to the tariff you and the supplier agreed to. If you did not agree a tariff, you will be billed according to the suppliers default tariff i.e. their standrad variable tariff (usually their most expensive tariff)

You should check your bill to ensure you are only paying for the time you were owned the property.

I don't understand why you say you could not select a different tariff. Just because you are switching supplier does not prevent you from selecting a tariff from the existing supplier (but early exit fees may apply to that tariff)
