Natwest Consolidated my OD into a Loan Twice

Here's the reality.
You have nowhere to go with this. MGet over it and move on with your life.
It's clear that you've mismanaged you finances for most of your adult life. While the circumstances of your original overdraft aren't clear, we are well beyond the statute of limitations.
You could take legal action but I doubt you have any paperwork of value given that the FOS ruled against you.
Look forwards. Not backwards.0 -
I am surprised that NatWest extended credit to someone they knew was under the age of 18.
...unless they didn't know that. Overdrafts and personal loans don't tend to simply spring into existence without the account holder asking for them, and while I'm sure errors do happen the chances of a bank not noticing this if honestly told a customer's date of birth are pretty slim. Not to mention that a 16 year old will have no credit history and possibly no income. So my question is:
1) How was this borrowing applied for?
2) What information did the OP give the bank about themselves?
3) What was the money actually spent on?
Not being funny, but I think there's a lot more to this than the OP is saying.urs sinserly,

I like it how you call them "money grabbing" when the only person who was money grabbing was you when you were spending thousands of pounds that wasn't your money with no way to pay it back!.
If this is still impacting your life 17 years later you really need to get a grip of your finances and sort them out!. Stop blaming the banks and admit that the only problem is you and how your manage your finances!.0 -

Well they did lend to me, I was banking with them (they were my first bank) so they knew EXACTLY who they were lending to.
Back then it was all applied for in branch
I think it was a combination of living expenses (I was a student at the time) and a £50 cheque Guarantee Card and Extortionate Bank Charges.
I have not left anything out and there is not more to it, that's the circumstances and no, I have not mismanaged my finances for my adult life, i have adapted and lived as best as i can in spite of the defaults against me.
I posted in this forum to get help, not to be given the third degree by armchair bloggers0 -
I have not spoken to NatWest for years, and to be honest I have no desire to speak to or interact with lying, money grabbing bankers, I really don't.
'.
You are 33 now
Who is grabbing the money you or the banks ? You owe them £1,000 and you did not pay it back. With multiple defaults mean this pattern had been repeated many times.
Many people, once they were 16yo have OD facility, they grew up and do not have any loan, defaults.I've contacted the CAB and they're useless as well, that's how I first found the Ombudsmen.
I need REAL advice and a solution, not to go to the CAB and retread everything I did years ago.
Thank you for trying to help, honestly I have done the CAB > Ombudsmen route and it was useless, the Ombudsmen aren't going to go against their financial institution brethren, so I have NO faith in that route.
When you call CAB who are professional "USELESS" and might have had a look your detail in a closer detail it reveals a lot of thing.
Unfortunately, some people never learn the lesson. Some people just put the blame to everyone but him/herself, do not know how to be responsible to his/her own action.0 -

I don't have loans now, this is what i'm talking about with armchair bloggers, you don't know my life or what has been done to me by those in power (in this instance NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland) so i don't need the third degree, since this is my first post (well the original post) in 7 years you can see why i don't use forums.
I came looking for help and advice, not a retread of what i've already done, I'm just trying to get advice since the avenues that I have tried (Ombudsmen, CAB etc.) have been useless, so I came here n the recommendation that Martin and the MSE team could help or at least point me in the right direction, instead I get the third degree from arm chair bloggers.
Except obviously the first couple that read my circumstance and see where the bank are in the wrong, whilst the others want to blame me, when we all know that bankers and the financial industry as a whole have been getting away with basically murder for years, its always in the papers, that is why people like Martin exist, and from what I've seen of him when I watched Daytime TV, he's good at it, helping those that need help0 -

Court or bust.
And if you couldn't persuade the ombudsman you won't persuade a judge.0 -

You said you do not have loan now. But you get multiple defaults.
When you call the Ombudsmen, CAB who are professionals, who might have seen your case in great detail USELESS.
Do you ever believe that someone here could do better given limited information, do not spend time as much as professional do in your case ?
You might get sympathy to make you feel better but remember sympathy on its own never solve the problems.0 -

Well the first post was saying you should take responsibility for your actions so definetly not blaming the bank as you suggested.
You were offered an overdraft by the bank but your the one who chose to accept the overdraft and spend more than double then do it all over again!.
Your blaming others again for your problems and you won't solve your financial problems until you take responsibility!. You should have paid these debts off along time ago and then they wouldn't be effecting you now. But yet your still trying to get out of paying them.
Just pay what you were and get it over and done with, it's as simple as that!
The real reason you don't post here is because you can't accept people who are telling you are in the wrong!. If you don't want to listen to people on here it's up to you because the only person who will suffer is you!.0 -
I don't have loans now, meaning new loans, and no I told you the reason I haven't posted in 7 years is coz i'm not interested in getting the third degree from arm chair bloggers, real advice is what i came for from the expert, not the man and his dog weighing in with their 2 cents.
As stated I took responsibility and was paying on payment plans every month without fail, until the recession hit (again caused by the banking system) and when i needed help i was refused, that's what happened, if that isnt taking responsibility and working with the systems that we have in this country then i dont know what is.
As I said I came here seeking advice from Martin, the expert instead I get a tonne of armchair bloggers (I could say Trolls but that is insensitive to Trolls).
I'm not looking for sympathy, I'm here for advice. I've been forth right and honest with what happened to me, I won't be posting again because, just like last time, instead of getting advice, I get attacked, which is the nature of internet forums, which is why I'd prefer to talk to Martin directly.0
