Rangemaster Classic Gas Oven

Hello lovelies! 
So, we've got hold of a second hand Rangemaster Classic 90cm - and are very happy with it. It has a couple of things that I need to get fixed and one thing that I'm unsure of and can't find an answer to anywhere.
If you have one of these, you may be able to help!
Left hand bottom oven (which has to be gas to answer this question!). At the back is the burner unit thing. Now, on ours, it is sort of floating in mid-air with a gap around it where I can see out of the back of the oven. That can't be right, can it?! Is there some sort of plate that sits below it? If so, could someone take a pic for me so I can try and find one?
