Yes I'm in a much better job now working shorter hours for more money!

I guess if the job you've referred to is a p/t job whilst you're at uni its slightly different to you having a mortgage and it being full time. The more ties you have the more trapped you are which is why I stayed eight months. I think if I had have been living at home still I may well just have left

    Good luck

That doesn't sound like a professional company.

The uselessness of HR departments never cease to amaze me. I was once went for an interview which went really well and they virtually offered me the job on the spot. Two weeks later I still hadn't heard from them so I rang them up just to be told "We are expecting you to start next Monday. Hasn't anyone told you?"

Yeah, if I enjoy it, then I was considering staying there for a while and seeing if I could maybe get something higher up within the company once I complete my degree, otherwise look for something else. It's all about 'time will tell' and the money is good so I'm aiming to save up as much as I can to help me get started in life properly :)

Wow, really? I guess this is where paper contracts work out better than verbal ones then. I guess it's a good job I've been constantly going in and pestering them about not contacting me

When hubby was made redundant, he had 3 interviews set up quite quickly (all trough various agents) the 1st interview was a thanks but no thanks, the other 2 he attended 2nd interviews. He was offered a job from one and heard nothing back from the other interview - he may have chased up the agent for feedback if he had not recieved another offer, but there was no need. 2 weeks into his current job he gets a call from the other interview, where was he? They were expecting him to start work that day! Seems the agent had provisionly accepted the offer, but not passed any details via hubs.
The agent did ring, and I answered as we were on the motorway and hubby was driving and I explained that he had already accepted another job, but the agent did not pass the info onto the other company.
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"

Wow, these places really are a joke then! Well they have either today or tomorrow to let me know what's going on, otherwise I'll be looking elsewhere..

My mum works in a different department there during the day but she's been in contact with the guy who was off last week, so she emailed him early last week thanking him for what he's done, so hopefully he's back today and she'll either ask him what's going on, and/or he'll knock those other two guys into shape

Well, I got a phone call this afternoon saying they were processing my documents now and they'll give me a call in a few days to give me an official starting date
