No, just following your train of 'logic'.

Just what is the insurance company going to do when it gets a claim from back completed saying the insured knows nothing and to refuse the claim.

You could say that about any claim.

You could say that about any claim.

With other claims, there would have been an exchange of details (and if not the police would be involved).

In your example, what is to stop anyone with a door ding picking a random car in a car park and claiming they did it, obtaining their insurance details and making a claim? Are you still suggesting the accused's insurance company will pay out when the owner (correctly) says they know nothing about any incident.

Just because the police become involved doesn't mean a claim will be successful.

As with any claim if you have evidence you maybe successful in claiming. Without any you won't.

Simple enough for you to understand?

So what evidence have you got (given the insured is saying they know nothing about it) other than a dent in the door?

Do you really think an insurance company is going to pay out on the word of a third party with nothing to back it up.

Are you talking about something hypothetical or an actual incident?

As I said it would all be down to the evidence.

We are talking about the situation where you said the insurance company would pay out even if the insured said don't.
As I said it would all be down to the evidence.

So as there is no conclusive evidence then the insurance company would simply refuse the claim.

"The insured is saying they know nothing about it", really?
The insured knows all about it and have already told their insurers as much.

then mum confessed she did open the door too wide and slammed it into a white car parked next to us. Had to ring the insurance back and change the story

Are you maintaining your stance that with evidence an insurance company wouldn't pay out if a policy holder told them not to?

And we return to what evidence are you going to provide when the insured says "I know nothing at all about it, don't pay".

There could be an independent witness, it could be on cctv. We don't know how the third party discovered who was responsible for the damage.

So with such evidence would the insurance deny the claim if the policy holder denied it and said don't pay?
