Stay with Sky or switch to BT

Hi

I'm currently with Sky. I have a Variety Entertainment TV package, Unlimited broadband and Sky talk anytime. I pay £52 per month (£56 from March) and I'm contracted with Sky till 28/06/2017.

I have seen a similar package with BT and obviously BT offers BT sports which is a bonus.

My questions are

1. Which provider is better in each department? TV channels, broadband speed and customer service.

2. As we know Sky will increase the prices for line rental and broadband, am I allowed to leave them before my end contract date?

3. If I switch to BT, what will happen to the sky dish and sky+HD box? I have only been customer with Sky. Also, if we decide to switch back to Sky after 2 years, can we still use the original sky dish?

Thanks

2 If you receive the price rise email you can cancel .

Note BT prices increase circa April 2017 .

You keep the box and dish, and they will revert to "Freesat from Sky" service, no recording capability.

If you return to Sky subsequently, you would be able to reuse your dish. Your box may be reused if it is still current, otherwise you'll get a new one.

Sky has announced today, its intention to move away from dishes towards internet as a route to supply its services.

That's aimed at people who aren't allowed to put up dishes and is scheduled to start from 2018, obviously you'll need fibre too.

If you're into your boxing then Boxnation will appear on BT Sport by the end of March which may be a big plus to yourself.

Who has the better TV channels is entirely subjective, only you know your preferences.

Broadband speed will be similar, either ADSL or fibre given the same package.

Customer service, I'd have to go with Sky but as a deal breaker it would be very low on my list of things to consider.

I was just thinking that , if it was universal, they would lose a lot of customers who can only have ADSL and especially those in slow areas.

They won't even comment on 4K TV either yet although there's plenty of time.

    1) Sky, BT, Sky

    3) They remain with you, the box will work as a free to air satellite receiver, record functionality and pause/rewind won't work unless you pay Sky £10 a month.
